Grant Review Committee
Apply for the Grant Review Committee
Inspire Vancouver is the City of Vancouver’s Cultural Access Program. Through public funding, the program provides grants to local nonprofit arts, culture, heritage, and science organizations. These organizations help bring people together, spark curiosity, and create opportunities for learning and connection throughout our community.
One way to get involved is by serving on the Inspire Vancouver Grant Review Committee (GRC). Committee members review grant applications, discuss each proposal, and make funding recommendations to the Culture, Arts, and Heritage Commission (CAHC). The CAHC makes the final funding decisions.
Committee Members
The Grant Review Committee includes five community members who have a connection to Vancouver’s arts, culture, heritage, or science community. Members must live in Vancouver city limits or have a member of their household enrolled in Vancouver Public Schools or Evergreen Public Schools.
Each committee member will:
- Review a small group of assigned grant applications.
- Lead the committee discussion for those assigned applications.
- Participate in group discussions and funding recommendations.
The committee will also choose one member to represent the group at the October CAHC meeting.
Member Responsibilities
Members of the GRC must be able to commit to the following responsibilities:
- Work together in a collaborative and constructive way to review applications
- Be open to hearing a range of opinions and willing to consider different perspectives
- Keep all application information confidential/private
- Attend all grant review meetings
- Read all assigned applications and come to each meeting prepared for discussion
- Acknowledge any potential conflicts of interest that may impact participation
Meeting Schedule
The Grant Review Committee will meet on:
- Sept. 18
- Sept. 24
- Oct. 6
Any additional meetings or work sessions will be scheduled with input from the committee and City staff.
Volunteer Stipend
Serving on the Grant Review Committee is a volunteer role that requires a significant time commitment. To help reduce financial barriers, support broad community participation, and recognize members for their time and contributions, each committee member will receive a $500 stipend.
Committee members whose participation is already paid for by another employer or organization are not eligible to receive the project stipend.
